The craps tables had very friendly and knowledgable dealers. The Casino itself has many machines and tables that are player friendly. The RIO is a great “older” Casino with personality. But, they still charged a resort fee?!? I know it may sound petty, but even the cheapest hotels I stayed are able to manage a coffee maker with one or two free cups of coffee. The last time I stayed at the RIO they had a Kerig and charged for pods. I rarely use the mini bar, but I gotta have coffee. The biggest let down was no coffee or mini bar in the room.
The rooms are dated and not all that appealing. The accommodations is where things don’t look that good for the RIO. They have different slots that seemed looser and a cheap breakfast buffet. I recommend taking a short walk to the GoldCoast, which is next door. The hotel offers shuttle service to Harrah’s and Bally’s which is a major plus to being able to get around without a car or having to pay for a cab. The staff behind the counters were not always attentive, but they did not hold back on portions when they did serve. The choices were plentiful and the sushi was excellent. RIO’s world famous buffet did not disappoint. The waitresses were plenty and offered a quick service on drinks.
